VII Calvià Vocational Guidance Conference

The VII Conference on Vocational Guidance, organised by Calvià Town Hall's Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries (IMEB) through the Calvià University Centre (CUC) takes place today, at the Casal de Peguera, until 1 p.m.

The objective of this conference is to provide 4th ESO students from the three Calvià high schools (IES Calvià, IES Son Ferrer and IES Bendinat), tools and resources that facilitate the decision-making about their future in the academic, professional and personal field. More than 360 young people participate in this edition.

The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, opened the event, accompanied by the deputy mayor for Education and Training, Olga Granados; the deputy mayor for Youth, Marga Plomer, and the deputy mayor for Transparency, Innovation and Economic Services, Macos Pecos, as well as the IMEB manager, Borja Martorell.

The Vocational Guidance Day began with three micro-lectures: "El valor de valorarse" (The value of valueing yourself), by the economist, coach and financial educator Nieves Villena; "Un mes lleno de disciplina puede llevarte más lejos que un año lleno de excusas" (A month full of discipline can take you further than a year full of excuses), by Víctor Mora Borrás, president of the Shambhala Foundation; and "Llegar a la meta del Dakar no es cuestión de suerte" (Reaching Dakar's finish line is not a matter of luck), pronounced by the rally-raid co-driver Sonia Ledesma Gómez.

In the Casal, spaces have been set up to speak with professionals from 37 different professions, with whom the students have been able to interact; they have been informed, through entities and educational centres, on the studies' offer and access to higher studies; and have been able to learn about the experience of students and recent graduates from vocational training and university studies.
