IES Bendinat students “tune” the Calvià biblio roulotte for Book Day
The caravan renews its image for Book Day and will tour the beaches during the summer
First-year Plastic Arts students from IES Bendinat have designed and decorated the IMEB (Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries of the Calvià Town Hall) biblio roulotte, which will debut a "tuned" image at the Book Day events on 20th April in Palmanova. The biblio roulotte will also ride the new design during the Summer months in which it will bring the public library service closer to the municipality's beaches.
The chosen design has emerged from the different proposals of the students themselves in a project directed by the center's teacher and artist Gabriela Seguí. Through a collaborative brainstorming process, the students have developed different proposals in which creativity and teamwork have been encouraged. The final result is a decorated camper that reflects the talent of the students in a design that combines abstract elements creating a visually stimulating and unique environment.
The project has not only transformed the IMEB library caravan, it has also had a positive impact on the students involved by giving them the opportunity to develop their artistic skills and work as a team on a real project. It is hoped that the experience will continue in future school and community collaborations.
The IMEB has organized a special day to celebrate Book Day next Saturday, 20th April on Paseo de Palmanova with book signings by authors, the presence of bookstores and multiple parallel activities.
