Monday, 15th May 2023

The global amount is over 650.000 euros

221 families in Calvià have benefited from the housing rental aids 2022-2023 call, for an amount exceeding 650.000 euros. The aids amount granted is up to 40% of the annual income that must be paid for the rent of the habitual and permanent residence, as long as it is equal to or less than 900 euros, with a maximum limit of 3.960 euros per year (330 euros per month) per family unit, and is granted, if the requirements are met, for a maximum period of 12 months, from 1st September 2022 to 31st August 2023. These are housing rental aids with the highest limit that currently occurs in the Islands.

Calvià Town Hall launched these annual grants in 2017, and the allocated budget has been increasing since they are considered a right, so whoever meets the requirements has the right to receive the aid, regardless if the amount budgeted has to be increased. In the last 4 years, around 3 million euros have been allocated.

In 2020 and 2021 were called, in addition to the annual aid, the extraordinary Covid aid, which had a budget of 400.000 euros, and which was intended for family units with problems to pay the rent due to causes related to Covid-19 and who found themselves unemployed, in an ERTE process, with an income reduction or suspended activity, or for being a woman victim of gender violence.
