38% more street vending complaints

THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ INTENSIFIES POLICE PRESSURE AGAINST STREET VENDING
The complaints have increased by 38 percent in July and the 18 arrests made against public health in the months of June and July correspond to individuals engaged in street vending 

In June and July alone, 530 complaints were filed against uncivic behaviours

The Local Police of Calvià has intensified the police pressure against street vending, whose complaints filed by the police force have increased a 38 percent, regarding the month of June. The police have focused on this activity since, in addition to violating the Ordinance to foster coexistence, it has been found that on many occasions, people engaged in this activity are also engaged in drug trafficking. In fact, between the months of June and July, 18 people, who were usually engaged in street vending, were arrested for crimes against public health.

Throughout the month of July, the Local Police has filed a total of 1,024 complaints in the municipality for infractions contemplated in the Ordinance for the Promotion of Coexistence, which is almost 50 percent more than those filed in the month of June. In June and July alone, 534 complaints were filed (198 and 332, respectively) for unlawful behaviours, without the street vending and the activities of masseurs on the beaches, which in the year it has amounted to 1,063 complaints. 

So far this year, a total of 2,570 complaints have been lodged for violations of the Ordinance for the Promotion of Coexistence.

On the other hand, the Local Police of Calvià, between June and July, has arrested and brought to justice or the Civil Guard a total of 76 people, increasing by 62% the number of detainees in the month of July with respect to the month of June.
