Covid agreement: about 300.000 euros for Calvią

Thursday 16th June 2021

Calvià receives more than 296.000 euros to help the most vulnerable people due to the Covid

The IMAS signs agreements with 16 municipalities worth 1.3 million euros

Calvià has received more than 296.000 euros through the URCOVID-2021 agreement that the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, has signed with the Consell de Mallorca, through the IMAS.

The signing event took place at the Consell de Mallorca Plenary Hall in an act chaired by the president of the Consell, Catalina Cladera; the councillor of Social Rights and president of the Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs (IMAS), Javier de Juan, and the director general of Planning, Juan Manuel Rosa.

15 more town councils, together with Calvià, have signed for 1.3 million euros.

The main objective of the aid is to finance basic social benefits to care for vulnerable people, especially families at risk. Thus, one of the priorities of the agreements is to guarantee sufficient income to ensure the coverage of their basic needs.

They will also serve to deal with labour contracts (substitutions, new services or workforce overload) and projects derived from the health emergency, such as, the reinforcement of home services, aimed mainly at elderly, disabled or dependent people to compensate the closure of day centres, occupational centres and other similar services. In addition, they will allow the acquisition of means of protection (PPE), reinforce remote assistance and care devices for the homeless.
