Challenge Ciclista Mallorca starts in Calvią

CALVIÀ OPENS THE XXX EDITION OF CHALLENGE CICLISTA MALLORCA

The international sporting event returns to Calvià 14 years later

The XXX Challenge Ciclista Mallorca kicks off next 13th May in Calvià, which after 14 years will again host a stage.

The Consolat de la Mar gardens hosted the presentation of this year's edition, which will be held from 13th to 16th May. In his speech, the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, highlighted the municipality's drive for sports, cultural and gastronomic activities, in a clear commitment to extending the season. The event, chaired by the president of the Regional Government, Francina Armengol, and the president of the Consell de Mallora, Catalina Cladera, was also attended by the Town Hall's deputy mayor for Sports, Eva Serra, and Calvià's general director of Tourism, Xavier Pascuet.

The 2021 Mallorca Cycling Challenge route with four Trophies offers great novelties, the Calvià Trophy (Peguera-Palmanova) which will open on Thursday 13, with a route of 168'5 kilometres. On Friday 14 the Serra de Tramuntana Trophy, between Lloseta and Deià (158'6 kilometres), with the high mountain as the protagonist. The third day of competition, on Saturday 15, the Port d'Andratx-Mirador des Colomer Trophy, of 161'3 kilometres and that will cross the Serra de Tramuntana from end to end, and on 16th Alcúdia will close the Challenge Ciclista Mallorca edition.

The Calvià stage will leave Peguera at 12 p.m. and the arrival in Palmanova is scheduled for around 4.15 p.m. The route will pass near the sea and inland: Peguera-Es Capdellà-Galilea-Puigpunyent-Coll des Tords-Calvià village-Es Capdellà- Galilea, to re-enter the municipality from Andratx (Sa Coma) -Es Capdellà-Calvià village-Palmanova.
