More than 1100 participants enjoyed the three races

The 37th edition of Half Marathon Magaluf, one of the most important sporting events in the municipality of Calvià and a reference in the field of this type of athletics events in the Balearic Islands, has started today Saturday 23rd April, at 6 p.m., at the Magaluf athletics track.

ith more than 1.100 people registered in the three races, Magaluf has become for a few hours the Balearic Islands capital of running.

The race has responded to the expectations of participants and organisation. The flat route that ran between the main avenues of Magaluf and Palmanova, and the desire of the participants to compete again, generated a spectacular atmosphere in the area. Not even the gusts of wind that were present during part of the afternoon could stop the desire of athletes and attending public to enjoy the event.

29 nationalities in the event and a great atmosphere
The participation of more than 50% of athletes from outside the Balearic Islands, with the presence of 29 nationalities in the event, has undoubtedly helped to make the event much more colourful.

Athough the majority of international athletes came from Europe (United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands or France), the event had participants from the United States or Brazil amongst others.

The entertainment, made up of DJs, drummers, 'Dimonis' and speakers, contributed to generating a very festive atmosphere during the race. The large crowd gathered at the start, on the main Magaluf and Palmanova avenues and at the finish line, was able to enjoy a fun sports afternoon.

Circuits
The people participating in the races ran through the streets of Magaluf, Son Ferrer and Palmanova through the two new circuits (opened in 2021) in order to avoid crowds, better organise services and continue capturing the essence of the tourist areas of Palmanova and Magaluf, its coast, promenades and commercial avenues.

The two races were held simultaneously and without overlapping runners from both circuits.

Half Marathon Magaluf and the environment
The organisation continues to bet on integrating sustainability into the event, and in this line in the edition it has worked on the elimination of single-use packaging during the race. Various solutions have been implemented in order to ensure that reusable containers are used both at the race provisioning stations and at the finish line.

In collaboration
Half Marathon Magaluf is organised by Fundación Calvià 2004 and the Institut Calvianer d'Esports, an organisation that depends on Calvià Town Hall. The race has the support of Mallorca Turisme and Mallorca Live Festival Foundations.
