VMP and green heritage ordinances meetings

Saturday 5th December 2020

CALVIÀ TOWN HALL MEETS WITH THE MUNICIPAL ENTITIES TO EXPLAIN AND GATHER COMMENTS ON THE GREEN HERITAGE AND PERSONAL MOBILITY VEHICLES ORDINANCES THAT ARE ON PUBLIC EXHIBITION

The youth of the municipality are summoned on 10th December to clarify doubts about the Ordinance that regulates the use of electric scooters

On the occasion of the public exhibition of the two Ordinances initially approved in the plenary session of October, the Ordinance regulating the use of personal mobility vehicles (VMP) and the Ordinance for the defense and conservation of the green heritage of the municipality of Calvià, the Town Hall, through the Department of the Environment and Ecological Transition, summons entities and groups of the municipality these days to explain the regulations and resolve doubts to the citizenship. The objective of the meetings, explains the Deputy Mayor for the Environment and Ecological Transition, Rafel Sedano, is that Calvià residents know these new ordinances and formulate the observations they deem appropriate during the public exhibition process, in order to make them part of these rules. Meetings have already been held, online, with the Neighborhood Associations, AMIPAS and sports entities, which have also been attended by the Councillors for Sports, Eva Serra; for Education, Olga Granados, and for Participation, Marga Plomer.

The young people of the municipality are summoned on 10th December, at 5.30 p.m., in Es Generador building, to inform them on the VMP Ordinance that regulates, amongst other aspects, the use of electric scooters. The regulations affect personal mobility electric vehicles, with one or more wheels, equipped with a single seat and powered exclusively by electric motors that can provide a minimum speed of 6 km / h and a maximum speed of 25 km / h. Amongst other aspects, the ordinance establishes the allowed age to drive VMP (from 16 years old, or under 16 years old (with AM moped license); the allowed and not allowed roads, as well as the speed on each of them (prohibition of sidewalks and parks, 10 km / h on promenades and pedestrian streets, 20 km / h on bike lanes, and 25 km / h on roads with a maximum of 30 and 50 km / h), or the regulation when parking this type of vehicle.
